Cycling improvements at Budapest railway stations!

CERV-A-2023-0624
Hungarian Cyclists Club
Budapest

Railway and cycling go hand in hand: cyclists need fixed rail to cover longer distances, while for rail users cycling can reduce door-to-door journey times. The combination of railway and cycling offers the advantages of car use (speed, flexibility), thus making it a cheap, sustainable and healthy competitor for both short and long distances. Currently, in Budapest, most stations do not provide easy access for cyclists, and most stations do not have sufficient facilities for proper storage of bicycles, and cyclists arriving by bike cannot store their bikes safely.

The Hungarian Cyclists Club's campaign aims to raise awareness among the public and the MÁV of the difficulties of accessibility and the lack of storage facilities for bicycles at railway stations. In order to protect the health of cities and the environment, they want to bring together and mobilise the cycling community to work together for the conditions for combined transport and the developments that make combined transport attractive and accessible to everyone.
