Posztindusztriális városi perifériák szocioökológiai örökségének újraértelmezése

Across the urban fabric of Central and Eastern European cities with an industrial heritage, there are significant amounts of unused or underused brownfield land, often in the immediate vicinity of disadvantaged and segregated neighbourhoods. The initiative worked to develop an environmentally, socially and economically sustainable, urban-scale framework for complex regeneration in Miskolc and Tatabánya—one that responds equally to the built, natural and social conditions—reinterpreting the heritage tied to the industrial and working-class culture of the areas concerned and opening up new possibilities for its use.

The aim of the Pad Foundation for environmental justice was to uncover the layers of contemporary living heritage and existing resources, to help build a shared knowledge base among stakeholders, and, drawing on this shared knowledge, to establish a methodological framework for promoting adaptive land-use opportunities that enhance the value of natural and built heritage. In line with these goals, spatial planning materials and complex development plans were produced, and concrete actions were carried out in the Vasgyár district of Miskolc and the Mésztelep/Hatos telep districts of Tatabánya.
