'Ókontri' - capacity building, community building and network development in rural towns

"The initiative will thematise local public life in three large rural cities (Debrecen, Pécs, Szeged), promoting the common rights and values of citizens in order to build the rule of law and democracy. It will focus on topics that have not previously been discussed in the localities concerned, and will provide an opportunity for more people to get involved in public affairs and to become part of the dialogue on European values.

Tilos radio will create a network of local and national CSOs, community spaces, professionals and artists, and with the power of the media, enable them to represent important social issues. A series of community programs and workshops will strengthen the collaboration between academia and CSOs, give visibility to local organisations, increase the role of host venues in representing community issues, bring the voices of local podcasters further afield and strengthen the audience caring about the issues in and around participating cities.

Audio and visual material from the programs and a podcast makers' guide will be available to all interested parties on the radio website and will be included in the radio programmes to give listeners the opportunity to learn about the public policy issues covered.
Using the tried and tested methods of the initiative, Tilos Radio intends to involve new cities in the network that is being built, in order to create a more vibrant, active and broader national community in the long term."
