Coalition for equality in education

CERV-P-2023-0304
Polgar Foundation for Equity
Budapest

One of the most problematic deficiencies of the present education system is the inequality that re-produces segregation and hinders citizen activism.

As a counterweight, this advocacy initiative – issue-based coalition – supports active organisations and implements a joint campaign with countrywide and local events, leaflets, videos and articles published on the Mérce portal. Afterwards, the organisers will assess their experience and build another campaign focusing on empowerment, strengthening the civil network, and assertive communication with the relevant stake-holders.

Besides, they are going to train Roma advocates with close ties to education. The training will be based on the campaign experiences, form the participants’ awareness and support them in joining public policy movements. As a result, Roma empowerment and their self-organising skills will strengthen, and their points of views will appear in other movements thus reducing anti-Roma prejudices.
