The EMMA Line will be 10 years old by 2025. This unique helpline service is a 20-hour-a-week, free, anonymous information and emotional support line covering a wide range of women's sexual and reproductive health and rights, with a special focus on motherhood, running by a team of 30 trained volunteers on a rotating basis. The programme involves and trains a further 12 volunteers. Their mental health and resilience is supported by ongoing supervision. Around 500 women receive direct support from the Line during the programme. Bringing together members of the Roma Community Accompaniment Network and Line volunteers, solidarity and cooperation between these communities is strengthened. Online communication during the programme, and in particular the video of the helplines, raise awareness among girls, women and mothers involved, which informs them, they have somewhere to turn and do not have to face their problems alone. The planned workshop is for helpline staff who provide assistance in the field of violence against women and SRH. This event will promote cooperation, professional networking, knowledge sharing and capacity building. The methodological brochure as output of the event provides good practices for other organisations to use and disseminate to a wider audience the importance of hotlines and the issues they cover, as well as to raise awareness and educate.
