May the voter win!

Voting is our fundamental right. Before the elections on 9 June 2024, the Alternative Communities Association had set itself the goal of encouraging Debrecen citizens to exercise this right consciously and actively, to express their opinions, to formulate proposals, to form active communities and, finally, to make an informed choice.

How have they facilitated this?
- Debrecen residents were encouraged to participate in the election with a video campaign, where people from different backgrounds talked about why participation is important to them and why they personally go to vote.
- A Living campaign space was set up in the Baross16 community space, and 8 molinos were put up to promote participation in the elections. Visitors were invited to take photos here and post their pictures with hashtags in the social media, thereby encouraging their friends to vote.
- In cooperation with K-Monitor Association, the Voksmonitor, which compares voters' opinions and political parties' positions on current issues, was adapted for Debrecen, helping more than 1 000 people to make an informed decision, whoever they vote for.
- A workshop about the elections was held together with TASZ or 6 young first-time voters.
- All-day entertainment programs were held under the title Election Vurstli, where more than 40 participants reflected together on the importance of elections in democracy.
- A musical results party was held with nearly 80 participants.
