Accessibility of Public Transport in Pécs

The aim of the “Travelling Together – Without Barriers” campaign was to raise awareness that even a small act of help can make a significant difference for those affected. For people living with disabilities, everyday activities that are routine for others often present challenges, and this is also true when using bus transport. However, with a little attention and openness, anyone can contribute to making public transport more accessible for everyone. The campaign drew the attention of fellow passengers, bus drivers and decision-makers to the everyday experiences and difficulties of passengers with disabilities, while also providing practical guidance on how to offer effective support.

As part of the project, a training video was produced for the bus drivers of Tüke Busz Zrt., presenting the experiences of people with different disabilities through personal stories. The film provided practical information on what bus drivers should pay attention to and how they can best support passengers with disabilities.

In September, a campaign launch event was organised where anyone could experience what it is like to use the bus as a person living with a disability. This was followed by posters, playful quiz questions shown on the bus TV screens, social media content and a public questionnaire to raise awareness of the issue.
