"We Have to Push Forward"

CERV-A-2023-1225
Marom Budapest Association (Open Spaces Network)
Budapest

The project was launched in response to the shrinking public space for LGBTQ+ dialogue and visibility in Hungary. It aimed to use contemporary visual art as an accessible tool for reflection, participation, and public conversation on LGBTQ+ issues.

The core goal was to create an open platform for artists and communities through a public poster open call, supported by exhibitions, public events, and a collective appearance at the Budapest Pride. The project achieved this with 107 submissions, a curated exhibition across multiple locations, and significant offline and online reach.

Main outputs included the open call, traveling exhibition, public programs, and a strong online presence. The project not only fostered artistic production but also encouraged civic expression, community engagement, and new connections between artists, activists, and cultural spaces. Its impact continues through online platforms, future exhibitions, and ongoing initiatives.
