Dajer Foundation for the Social Visibility of Women Over 40
Budapest

In the project we aimed to research organizations' practices through our fieldwork in 2025 that could be useful practices for the Dajer Foundation in the long run, and certainly could have helped to facilitate intergenerational understanding and knowledge transfer.
The Dajer focused primarily on the equality representation of middle-aged women and their recognition as societal factors. It also addressed public, cultural and social issues from the perspective of women in their 40s-60s.
They had operated as an online magazine when the organisation started, and later opened a separate open space in Budapest. Their work shed a unique and sensitive light on the double face of middle-aged womanhood. At that time, with the advance of neuroscience and the fight for the recognition of reproductive and care work, there was a need for practices that excluded inequality, ageism and discrimination from our daily lives.
The selected 4 organisations were to be visited in Italy, France, Spain, Austria and the Netherlands. In the project Róza Deák (MoME) was going to document the research with a focus on visual elements, while Szonja Deák (CEU) was responsible for interviewing and writing textual reports and analysis for future objectives. Their educational background and previous community-artistic based activities fitted the spirit of the project, and their student status was expected to help realize the fieldwork abroad.
As a possible output, we planned to organize a podcast and small gathering events in the community space of the Dajer.
