Artemisszio Foundation
Budapest

On the one hand, the initiative aims to increase the integration chances of immigrants and refugees living in Budapest and to reduce discrimination, and on the other hand, it raises awareness of the value of cultural diversity among the Hungarian population. Mira aims to achieve these effects by developing an intercultural community, increasing the number of members and followers and deepening participation. Mira is undergoing an organisational and systems development process in which the target group is an equal partner. Local residents are reached through intercultural events and the communication activities of an editorial team of immigrants. The breaking down of integration barriers is supported by three activities: a constantly expanding information website, expert discussions on opportunities for political, economic and cultural participation, and the preparation of foreign residents for civic and cultural exams. In the long term, the initiative will contribute to the more successful integration of foreigners living in Hungary and to increasing the openness of Hungarian society.
