The project aims to ensure quality education for disadvantaged Roma children by providing training for parents of young children on early childhood development, involving pre-school teachers, interactive sessions, round-table discussions and other programmes. It also aims to initiate and deepen communication between parents, pre-schools and the institution.
The direct target groups are the parents of pre-school children, teachers directly involved in the education and development of young children, heads of institutions, representatives of the local authority and the local community.
The activities include round table discussions (with the participation of Roma communities, NGOs, educational institutions, the municipality and parents), parents' tea days (workshops on skills development activities), assertive communication and advocacy training (to strengthen civic participation), and community days to launch and close projects.
The expected outcomes are more effective early childhood development in kindergartens, more intensive involvement of parents, deeper links between communities and educational institutions and teachers, increased mutual trust, development of parents' childcare and development competences, and the launch of a meaningful dialogue with institutional managers. In the long term, they hope to improve school readiness rates and social cohesion in the local community as a whole.
