The specific problem is the prejudicial, racist and sexist attitudes of young people. The causes include prejudice, lack of knowledge and lack of empathy in adult society. The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the fact that prejudice is present in many areas of our lives and if not consciously addressed, it causes rights violations. The automatic acceptance of stereotypes and prejudices puts many people at a disadvantage without them being aware of it.
The target group is teachers and youth workers working in Eastern Hungary (Debrecen at center). They are the ones who are in daily contact with youth, who can shape their attitudes not only through campaigning but also through continuous education, and we would like to support them by means of tools.
The main activity of the project is the design, running and accreditation of a teacher training course. This will be done through training with playback theatre method and structured exercises, and related research. The project includes a literary and a comic competition, to provide a model for teachers and to involve the indirect target group (young people).
At the organizational level, we will be supported by the expertise of the ‘Életfa’ Support Association, which is expanding the pool of volunteers. At the level of the target group, the results of the research and the accredited teacher training will be used beyond the project period, thus making a lasting contribution to reducing prejudice.
