Strengthening civil society representation in the permitting and monitoring process for energy battery factories and industrial investments

CERV-P-2023-0165
Átlátszónet Foundation
Budapest

More and more battery factories are being built in Hungary (often subsidised by the state) that have serious negative impacts on the local people’ quality of life and on nature. Civil society organizations from the affected areas therefore unite with active campaigns to exercise their civil rights. In order for the wider public to have access to facts and information about the topic, Átlátszó writes investigative reports and fact-finding articles. Five trainings per year are going to be held that supply active citizens with concrete, practical knowledge about the assertion of interests. These workshops will be held in Göd and other affected settlements locally, to build community bases. Affected individuals are going to be supported by legal professionals to find the most efficient method to assert their basic rights.
