Strengthening civil society representation in the permitting and monitoring process for energy battery factories and industrial investments

An increasing number of battery factories are being built in Hungary, which are having a significant negative impact on the quality of life of local residents and the natural environment. Civil society organizations in the affected regions have therefore joined forces and launched active campaigns to assert their civil rights. To ensure that the broader public has access to facts and information on the topic, Átlátszó has published 60 investigative reports and fact-finding articles. Twelve workshops and forums were organized, providing active citizens with concrete, practical knowledge on advocacy. In connection with the project, five lawsuits were filed, and 60 requests for public information were submitted. The project reached more than 850,000 citizens.
