The Water Coalition aims to ensure that all residents of the country have access to clean drinking water, regardless of their social status or place of residence. To this end, the WC wants to raise public awareness of the problem of drinking water supply and address decision-makers.
The primary target group is citizens who are at risk of water supply problems and who are already experiencing such problems. In addition, drinking water network coverage is becoming a national issue, as are access to water and water poverty. Water quality and water supply problems affect two-thirds of households.
Key activities:
- Building and developing the coalition, supporting its operation, expanding the coalition, and raising the issue of water in public discourse.
- Broadening the social base through awareness-raising and action-oriented communication and events, such as the Vízőrző platform, the Vizes Híradó (Water News) and the Víz Hete (Water Week) program series.
- Vízőrző online platform and brand: a reporting and educational platform where we map water issues, store images and data, and develop the Vízőrző identity.
The Water Coalition was created on the initiative of Eleven Közösségek (Living Communities) in cooperation with dozens of civil society organizations, trade unions, and local governments. With the implementation of the program, water supply and water quality issues are becoming more visible nationwide, decision-makers are allocating more resources to development, and the Water Coalition's base is growing.
