The Roma Vision – Active Citizens Program aims to enhance the democratic awareness and civic competencies of disadvantaged Roma and non-Roma university students, providing them with tools for active societal engagement. By fostering critical thinking, advocacy skills, and democratic values, the initiative empowers participants to represent their communities effectively, combat discrimination, and drive inclusive social change.
The primary target group includes 75 Roma university students and Roma college members, many of whom come from segregated communities and are the first in their families to attend higher education. Indirectly, the project will benefit broader disadvantaged communities, as well as civil organizations and educational institutions supporting these young individuals.
Key activities encompass workshops, mentorship programs, and practical exercises centered on critical thinking, political rhetoric, and advocacy. Experiential learning methods, including simulations and group discussions, will deepen participants’ understanding of democratic processes and their societal roles. Feedback from participants will directly inform program design and evaluation.
Collaborating with Roma colleges, civil organizations, and educational institutions, the program ensures comprehensive support and resource sharing. Results will be shared through reports and best-practice guides to inspire similar initiatives. Long-term impacts include empowered youth leaders, strengthened community partnerships, and significant contributions toward equality, inclusion, and societal cohesion.
