More women in public life! – For a happier, more European Hungary

The goal of the project was to develop women's self-confidence and leadership skills, strengthen local communities, and initiate changes at a national level. Through this, we aimed to strengthen women's public and political participation, promote gender equality, and widely publicise the 7 points of public policy proposals. By organising rural community walks and workshops, the programme focused on strengthening local identity and transferring practical tools. Organising regular online meetings and providing a closed online platform ensured continuous networking and experience-sharing among participants.
Target group: Leaders of rural civil society organisations and community changemakers; women who were interested in public participation; as well as the wider public, including decision-makers and professional partners.
Activities (or related points):
We produced and distributed publications that presented the methods used in the project and the public policy proposals.
By bringing local issues to the surface and supporting women taking on public roles, the project actively responded to local needs, which provided a foundation for organising a national women's congress, involving activists, and discussing and further developing subsequent proposals. As a result of the project, local women's communities were strengthened, their members' self-confidence increased, and some embarked on public participation. The online platform and the new network sustained cooperation and continuous exchange of experiences. The public policy proposals could have become known at a national level, contributing to the proportional representation of women and the promotion of social equality in the long term.
